Venezia...Once is enough

(Bridge of Sighs)
Venice was my least favorite of the "big" Italian cities...it was much too crowded for my liking and it's next to impossible to get around.
Don't get me wrong...it's stunningly beautiful but it's so small that you almost feel trapped...and if you wanted to take a water taxi to get from the "front" of Venice to the "back" you'd be waiting in long long lines to catch one.  (and that's really the only way to get around)
(Doge's Palace)
(St. Mark's Basilica)

Our hotel was on the "back" side of the city so after the water taxi dropped us at the hotel we stayed on that side for the night.  We did a little shopping that evening then found a wonderful Trattoria for dinner.  I took the opportunity to practice my very broken Italian on the most adorable waitor ever...he laughed but then kindly corrected me when I spoke the words out of order while ordering my wine.
(Panoramic view of the city...see, too many people!)
Tom's grandfather told him, 'you only need to see Venice once'...boy, he sure knew what he was talking about!
Arrivederci Venice, Pronto Florence!

Just scratched Venice off my next trip to Italy (not that it was actually gonna take place, other than in my mind...) Thank for sharing your pics, now I feel as if I have been there. Kenzie didn't take many pics of Venice when she was there. Fun to see what she saw!

Have a good week. I can't get used to this weather. Hot one day, freezing the next.

What the frick?!

You.did.not.go.to.Italy!

That's exciting! It looks so pretty, but I couldn't stand the crowds either. I'm such an introvert that I'd be claustrophobic for sure.

Hi Rachel,
Hope you are having a great week. I can't wait for Jen's house and our book binding session. I really like Jen, she's so sweet, (total opposite of me.)

Well see you Friday, post the rest of your pics, dang it! I totally fell in love with Italy from your pics. It's making me think I need to get a full time job so I can travel more. I kind of just want to get out my credit card, buy some tickets and new clothes and just take off.

K, I just came over to check out your studio for Where Women Create. Yours would blow everyone away. A little slice of heaven on earth. Have a good day in this heat!
