Let Them Eat Cake...

Well, I finally watched the Kirsten Dunst version of Marie Antoinette a few nights ago and fell in love with the all the costumes and fabulous set designs. I didn't so much care about the story (because we all know how the story goes, right?), but I couldn't get enough of the costumes, shoes, opulent decor and, of course, the decadent desserts!
(can I pretend that's me lounging there surrounded by all those lovely treats?)

This is one movie I just might have to add to my collection...

Oh Etsy, Where have you been all my life?

Don't you just love Etsy? I've been a shopping fool lately and just can't seem to get enough (maybe it's having been cooped up in this house for the last 4 months?) Here are some of my latest finds: The (unused) vintage valentines are from birdnestsandpaper, the vintage forget-me-nots are from memorimakers and the Marie Antoinette tiny book is from Marina Collings shop.
These great crusty, old recipe cards are from Vintage Embellishment and the adorable box of vintage gummed labels are from Hope at Paper Relics.
And these fabulous vintage horse show ribbons are from KatyBits and Pieces. We were supposed to go meet friends for drinks and dinner tonight but Sebastian is not feeling well...so I told Tom to go without me (now I have time to do more Etsy shopping!)

What a Birthday!

Today is my dear old Dad's 69th birthday...and we spent it in the hospital while he underwent yet another surgery. He was up at 4:00 am to get transferred from his rehabilitation hospital to the surgical hospital (and I was whining cuz I had to get up at 5:30! I need to learn to keep my mouth shut!). Well, this surgery was primarily for keeping him out of the hospitals in the future so it may end up being a nice birthday gift afterall! Such is life...
