Call me Crazy...or just Lazy?

I've known for weeks that Shelby's four closest girlfriends (Anna, Annie, Carolyn and Kelly) were having a combined graduation party today. I had been toying with the idea of making all five of the girls memory books with pictures from 9th through 12th grade. Of course, being the procrastinator I am, I didn't officially decide "yes" until yesterday around 11:00am. With a one day window, I frantically loaded my pictures to a neighborhood drug store for printing, I thought I could get 1 hour service but unfortunatley I wasn't able to pick them up until 4:30 pm. No need to panic, I decided to cut all the papers, make the front and back covers and get everything ready while waiting for the pictures. I stayed up until 12:30 working away, and continued at about 8:30 this morning. After sending Tom to the store to get more adhesive (I think I literally used every single source of adhesive I had in my posession) I finally finished glueing, stapling, sewing and wrapping at 1:00...one hour to spare. Wow I'm good under pressure! {HUGE SIGH}

Well, we're off to the party!

Memorial Day 2009

Happy Memorial Day. I wanted to get out to a few cemetaries this weekend but we were too busy tiling the laundry room/dogs room (that the dogs destroyed) in order to get it finished before Shelby's graduation party. I've also been taking a little break from creating goodies for my Etsy store to make myself a few "memory" albums...

This photo is from 1925, it's my Great Grandmother Alice, Great Aunt Corrine and my Grandmother Gloria. I love their clothes! I'm going to fill this album with all the old pictures I have of my Grandmother and Grandfather as children.

I stumbled across these rolls of jacquard ribbon while treasure hunting. I think I'll use yards of these along with vintage hankies and make some cute little goodie bags for my Etsy store. Hope you enjoyed your long holiday weekend. I belive this unofficially marks the beginning of summer...yippee!

Garage Sale Heaven!

Today was Woodbury's annual Lions Club Garage Sale...literally hundreds of Woodbury residents set up shop in their garages and sell everything you can possibly imagine. Tom and I have made it a tradition of taking Friday off (that's the first day so you get the best selection) and we (ok "I") found lots of treasures. My favorite find was the vintage sequin and felt Santa and Snowman ornaments...I discovered these beauties in one of the community churches. Tom's loot is pictured way in the back...he found some old MN Twins Wheaties boxes for $1 each. Oh, I also found two bundles of vintage hankies, each bundle had about 20 hankies each and guess what I paid for each bundle...25 cents! I also got a bunch of really old books for FREE, vintage yard tools for 25 cents each, vintage games, puzzles, vintage jewelry, vintage linens, lots of vintage Christmas goodies, a few vintage cookbooks and a fantastic old desk that Tom managed to talk the sellers into taking a measley $25 for. I'm in garage sale heaven!

And this little find is for my sister...my photography skills are pretty sad, this picture is much prettier in person
I recently joined a swap group and this is my first completed swap project. We were to find a little something at a thrift shop and alter it. My swap partner happens to like Victorian things so I hope she likes this...and I hope she doesn't read my blog because it won't be much of a surprise if she sees it before it arrives in the mail.

I like the way it turned out so much that I may make a few to sell in my Etsy shop.
